Meet the ARTIST

Conor Mullen

Conor Mullen is a Wyoming-based artist-organizer whose work bridges art, community engagement, and social change. Drawing from backgrounds in fine art, social work, and environmental studies, he creates public art that is rooted in collaboration, storytelling, and place-based identity.

His process is deeply community-centered—gathering stories through conversations, listening sessions, and local partnerships, then transforming those narratives into visual works that reflect collective memory and shared experience. One example is his large-scale mural project in Laramie’s LaBonte Park, where imagery was developed directly from community input and installed as a celebration of local identity.

Mullen’s work explores the intersection of human experience, public space, and ecological futures, often highlighting voices and histories that are underrepresented in traditional narratives of the American West. In addition to his artistic practice, he is a Public Humanities PhD student at the University of Wyoming and an advocate for community-based arts education.

He has collaborated with organizations across the state, including the Nicolaysen Art Museum, Jackson Hole Center for the Arts, and the University of Wyoming Art Museum, and continues to develop projects that bring people together through art, dialogue, and shared vision.

In 2026, he was recognized with Creative Capital’s State of the Art Prize for Wyoming and named Wyoming Alternative Art Educator of the Year.

His work emphasizes connection, healing, and the power of shared stories—making him uniquely aligned with projects that use public art to support mental health awareness and community resilience.
